DAYZ - Day 2 (comparing Left 4 dead with DayZ

Death. Apocalypse. Yogurt. Zombies.

  VS

Note: Both games were played on Regular mode.

Comparing Left 4 Dead series to Day Z Zombies is like comparing WWE to a brawl you just witnessed out on the street. Left 4 dead is a toddler compared to the Adult version of Dayz. "My zeds aren't little bitches that die in a single hit" says DayZ as he shoves Left 4 Dead into the school locker while Resident evil and Dead island cheering DayZ, hoping they don't get picked on next. Please Note that Dayz is a beta while L4D is fully released so am comparing it to DayZ beta days.

The Z's health and Damage

In L4D series, the average zombie is like a pinata compared to Dayz. In L4D, I can kill 3 to 5 zombies with a single blow of my axe and barely take any damage from them, I can spend hours hitting the infected with the axe before they whittle my health down.

Dayz zombies are a lot stronger, They have a Jumbo size health bar (compared to L4D) and can damage you and cause you to bleed (in dayz you can bleed to death). If you had 1 player from each game fight a single Zombie with a melee on the standard setting, In Dayz you most likely be dead or a least hurt badly, while in L4D i be eager to swing at the next thousand zombies.

Sound
Both games go by sound, In L4d if you set a car alarm or thrown a smoke alarm bomb it will attract the zombies. DayZ takes it a step further with it's guns. In L4D I can fire my heart off and the zombies in the next room don't care. In DayZ, each weapon has noise level that can attract zombies from a distance so going in gun blazing is suicide.

Breeds of Zeds
In left for dead you have your average zombie, Mud people, Riot geared Zombies, Biohazard zombies and the special infected.

In DayZ they have average zombies, Walkers, Standers, Monkey (on all hands and feet) and crawlers.

Comparing them, Left 4 Dead has the better selection of enemies while DayZ sticks to the classic Zombie/Infected plot.

Which AI is the worst?
In L4D I have seen Zombies run off buildings to their re-deaths or got stuck in the walls. The pathing in DayZ is horrible with them running off a different direction then to come back (I swore at first that they were recruiting more friends to come kill me). Zombies tend warping away if they are inside buildings or Despawn, or cheat and hit through walls. I have to say for the moment DayZ is the worst for AI.

As I said I enjoy both games for each of their own style and may compare other elements down the road.
